ON THE WATER

'A whispering and watery Norfolk sound, telling of all the moonlit reeds around.' - John Betjeman

NORFOLK BROADS

The Norfolk Broads offer excellent sailing and canoeing, with options for all experience levels. Try a taster session, take a course, or join a regatta. You can also explore the waterways aboard a historic wherry—only eight remain, some available for charter. For a quieter adventure, hire a canoe and discover hidden tributaries rich in wildlife, or simply relax on a river tour and enjoy the scenery and local history.

BOAT TRIPS

The Broads Authority offers boat trips through nature reserves and rivers. Ride the Electric Eel for a silent tour at How Hill or explore Barton Broad on the solar-powered Ra. The Liana provides a relaxing cruise along the southern Broads and River Waveney.

SAILING

Blakeney is the north Norfolk hotspot for sailing, but you'd need your own boat. At Brancaster Staithe, you can hire a boat or learn to sail, and there are all sorts of nautical activities at the National Trust's Millennium Activity Centre.

Kitesurfing and windsurfing are popular along the coast.
